As part of our outdoor play and learning strategy, we have a dance area at each site. 

At Merrywood, this area is bordered by the side of a storage shed and at Myrtle we have a purpose built covered stage area. Each of these areas provided a blank canvas for the children to decorate as part of Southfest and they thoroughly enjoyed the chance to let loose!

Myrtle Site

Our Pupil Leadership Team took on the challenge of decorating the dance stage and channelled everything they had seen the professional artists doing, adding their own imaginative spin on it!

They adopted a free-style approach which resulted in this lovely, energetic final effect - a perfect backdrop to the dancing that happens here at playtime!

Merrywood Site

At Merrywood the decoration began with a few eager staff getting involved with the spray paints, and then the children added their own details using posca pens. It is a beautiful feature in our Merrywood playground and a great visual connection with the dance stage at Myrtle.
